Trauma & Fractures
Some injuries require urgent hospital admission while others are amenable to diagnosis and treatment in the out-patient setting. We offer both operative and non-operative treatment for fractures in any anatomical region, and in any age group.
In general, skin incisions are well-healed by two weeks post operatively. Bony healing times vary widely depending on the location & severity of injury, but as a rule of thumb, most fracture patients can expect a period of immobilisation for 6 weeks postoperatively, followed by physiotherapy.
Whether treated operatively or non-operatively, satisfactory union of the bony architecture is key to patients’ early mobility and restoration of function.
