Dr Ralph (Tad) Gunkelman
Practitioner

“I believe thorough education, open communication and accessibility are key to shaping a patient’s expectations regarding their condition.

If surgery is truly the best option, I commit to tailoring my surgical approach and implant choice to each individual’s specific anatomy and lifestyle demands.

Finally, I am committed to providing patients the best possible outcome which is ensured through ongoing research and collaboration with other Australian leaders in Orthopaedics.”

Julija Makijenko
Practice Manager

“I’m Dr. Tad’s practice & relationship manager and patient liaison.

I sort out his diary, schedule appointments, greet patients on the day of their consultation, and handle all paperwork related to billing and hospital admission.

I’ll also ring patients after their surgery to see how they’re traveling and make sure everything’s going smoothly.

If there are any problems, I’m dedicated to sorting them out!”

Patient

A successful outcome has four equal components:

  1. Therapeutics

  2. Surgical Acumen

  3. Expectations & Engagement

  4. Rehabilitation

As a patient, the first two components are largely out of your control, but the second two are equally crucial and derive entirely from your understanding & efforts.

Ultimately, surgery is a partnership: we perform surgery with you, not upon you.
